This term our topic is 'The Rainforest'

So far in our topic work we have been learning about the different layers of the rainforest and what animals live there. Have a look at the pictures and see our fabulous art work! We have been doing careful drawings of the different creatures that can be found living on the forest floor, and in the understory layer of the rainforest.

We have followed instructions to make paper plate snakes , carefully observed the beautiful colours of different butterflies , and studied the interesting shapes of rainforest leaves, to transform the library area into a jungle of our very own !

We have been writing stories , working hard to innovate 'Where The Wild Things Are'. We've focused on using descriptive language, and making exciting changes to the original story. The class has thoroughly enjoyed creating their own characters from magical fairies, to blood thirsty zombies!

On our investigation table we've been studying different rainforest animals and insects , if you have access to any information books, or the internet at home you could do your own research..

What does it look like ?

What is its habitat like  ?

What does it eat ?

Is it endangered ?

This is how we used a story map to plan our writing , making changes to certain parts. Our ideas were very imaginative!

PE Year 2

During this term in PE the children have been practising their PESS gymnastic movements and positions. Some of these include: seals, scorpions, crabs, crawling soldiers and skydivers.

The children's confidence has excelled which has enabled their agility, balance and co-ordination to progress both individually, and when working with others.

Ask your child to show you some of their moves !

Here are some of the children showing you what positions and movements they have learnt.
