Welsh Government has announced that all schools in Wales will close at the end of the day on Friday 20th March 2020 as the Easter Holiday is brought forward.
As this will be a school holiday, staff will not plan ongoing work for pupils however holiday homework activities will be on class webpages.
It is not clear yet whether schools will re-open after the two week holiday period and we will try to update you with information as and when we receive it. It would also be worth checking the BBC news page https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-51947148 which is constantly updated.
All school trips moving forward are on hold however we are unable to provide refunds to parents at the current time for two reasons:
- trips may still go ahead or be rearranged
- the organisations may not wish to return deposits and therefore we will need to seek reimbursment through the Torfaen Insurance Department
We have no doubt that Coronavirus Covid-19 is causing significant worry for parents and carers and school fully appreciates the calm, measured and patient support we have had from you all in this very difficult time. Credit must be given to the school staff who are also concerned and anxious and who have continued to ensure that education has been provided over the recent weeks.
A reminder of the protocol to follow (NHS Wales guidelines)
Stay at home if you have either:
- a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
- a new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly
If you have symptoms, stay at home for 7 days.
If you live with other people, they should stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person started their symptoms.
