Heddlu Bach

Welcome to The Heddlu Bach page! This year has been a little different for Heddlu Bach as all of our projects have had to stay on school grounds...

*** Please scroll down to find out what we have been up to each month!***

Miss Coff and our local CSO, Kim Hughes, had a busy month in October taking in lots of applications from Year 5 & Year 6 pupils and interviewing for Heddlu Bach.

13 children were carefully selected…

Autumn Term.

Mini Police met to discuss their agenda for the year. They decided that as well as following the ‘Mini Police Scheme of Work’ they wanted to tackle some other issues they felt were important at the moment.

We discussed the impact that coronavirus has had on loneliness in the local area and decided to reach out to local care homes to see if any of them would like support from the Mini Police to help combat loneliness.

We then wanted to think of how Mini Police could have a positive impact and help pupils at Nant Celyn Primary School and decided to have our main mission for the year to be focussed on ‘Friendship and Loneliness’.  November 13th was anti bullying week so Mini Police decided to make their presence known by patrolling the school!

One of our main missions this year is to help combat loneliness in the local area. Mini Police did some research and discovered that many people who live in care homes have been unable to have visitors for nearly 18 months due to coronavirus. We managed to get in touch with a care home that is very local to us, Holly Lodge Care Home and they welcomed our support.

We brainstormed ways that we could introduce Heddlu Bach to Holly Lodge Care Home and decided to create all of the care residents there Christmas cards. Unfortunately, due to Covid, Heddlu Bach were unable to visit the care home but we posted them instead with a lovely message inside!

Our next job was ensuring that people were keeping their homes and selves safe at Christmas. We created some Top Tips on Crime Prevention that we shared on our school Facebook site and with all children and staff.

Spring Term.

Throughout spring, Heddlu Bach have been working alongside the Digital ambassadors to get ready for Internet Safety day!

Check out our posters and the Digital ambassadors presentation. 😀

This term we also focussed on Friendship. We created posters of 'A Helping Hand' and stuck them up around the school to make all pupils know that we are there for them. We wore our uniforms at play times and took surveys to find out how pupils felt in school. Most children said that they felt safe and if there were any issues we made them aware of who they could talk to if they need help!

Summer Term.

For our final term we have decided to focus on Water Safety! We know that the summer is a very popular time to visit the beach, pools and swim but not everyone knows how to stay safe in water. We are currently in the process of creating a presentation to share with the whole school!

Come back to see it in the next few weeks.

Diolch.
